Data Analysis and Exploration Portal (DEAP)
Data Analysis and Exploration Portal (DEAP)
The Data Exploration and Analysis Portal (DEAP) is designed to lower the barriers to scientific research by promoting scientific best practices and fostering collaboration, sharing, and reproducible science. The web application allows researchers to work with ABCD and HBCD study datasets which are released through the NBDC Data Hub.
Within DEAP, users can interactively explore the study’s data dictionary using a tree-based ontology browser that organizes database tables hierarchically by assessment domain , data source, and other characteristics. The data dictionary table allows users to search and filter the data dictionary as well as explore variable-level metadata and aggregate statistics. Accredited users with a valid data use certificate (DUC) can create, store, and share custom datasets that join variables across different tables. They can further download their datasets in different output formats (including CSV/TSV, Stata, SPSS, RDS, and Parquet/Arrow).
DEAP is under active development. Future versions of the application will allow users to explore and analyze NBDC datasets directly within the platform, with flexible visualization tools for exploratory data analysis as well as inferential statistical modeling approaches, including voxel- and vertexwise brain imaging analyses. All of DEAP’s functionality is designed with a focus on open and reproducible science as well as providing users with tools and guidance for working with data from complex longitudinal studies like the ABCD and HBCD studies.
